Melanie Beth Curran is a writer and musician based in New York. Her musical project, Western Female, explores the position of the female performer in society, and the broader musical memory of the west. She is a Fulbright fellow to France, where she will be writing about the traditional music community of Finistère, Bretagne. Currently an MFA candidate at The New School, she is at work on book about her deceased uncle, New York City, and the role of the artist in America.
Melanie’s first album, Hot Sauce in Kitsap County, is about life in her homeland of the Pacific Northwest.
